Losing Helen

Spoilers: End of Series One.

Helen sat in her car.

She needed to shower, to wash away the acrid stench of burning fabric, the coating of smoke and recrimination and regret that clung to her like a second skin.

And she needed a drink. In fact, she needed more than one. An entire vat of vodka just might rinse from her mouth the bitter taste of losing. Losing Sean, losing her dreams, losing the idea of who she was, what she wanted.

Because she knew now, what she wanted was Nikki Wade, and there wasn't enough vodka in the world to wash that longing away.
