“You lied, Jack,” Serena said softly, her voice tinged with awed disgust.
“It wasn't a lie, Serena, just a judicious use of the truth,” McCoy answered. “And it got a murderer convicted. That's our job, to use everything at our disposal to put away dangerous criminals.”
“You can call it a judicious use of the truth, you can say that you're on the side of the angels. It won't change the fact that at the end of the day, it was still a lie,” Serena answered resignedly.
Jack looked at her with a slight lift to his eyebrows.
“Well, then, I'll wait for St. Peter to judge me, not you. Tonight, I'll sleep just fine.”
