Maybe she was being paranoid, but Tracey would swear that Kelly had been staring at her. It was surreptitious staring, but staring all the same.
“What? I don't have anything on my nose, or in my teeth. My hair looks the same. I didn't leave the tags on my clothes again. Why do you keep staring?”
Twice Kelly opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
Finally she murmured quietly, “The same reason that people stare at the Mona Lisa. Trying to divine the mystery.”
“What mystery?” Tracey asked, a secretly pleased smile just touching her lips.
“That one,” Kelly replied, indicating with a nod Tracey's reflection in the window, and her lovely, mysterious smile.
