Recriminations

Author's Note: Written for the Journalist Challenge at the LiveJournal community T100. Set during the events of “Gov Love”. An imagined added scene.

“Why didn't you ever tell me?” Jack asked quietly.

“I just did.” Serena replied expressionlessly.

“After nearly four years? After working together twelve hours a day, five days a week?” Jack's voice rose a bit, indignantly.

“What difference does when make? It never seemed to matter before,” Serena answered, a bitter note in her tone.

“When did it start to matter?”

“Today, when you decided to destroy people's lives because they happen to stand in the way of the great Jack McCoy winning a case. Today, when you decided to make a mockery of everything I am.” Serena's blue eyes shimmered with tears. “Any other questions?”

“No. I think that answered them all.”
